Elephants and Rats

A long time ago there was an earthquake in a village. The village collapsed. As a result the people there left the village. But the rats living in that village decided to stay there. Rats eventually started living there. Near that village there was a lake, where herds of elephants bathed together and came to drink water. On their way through the village to the lake, the elephants would trample the rats there. So, the rat king decided to meet the elephants. He said to the elephants, “O elephants, when you travel to the village many of our rats are trampled. We would greatly appreciate it if you would consider changing your ways. You call us when you need us. We will try to help you.

The king of the elephants smiled and said, “We are a giant elephant community. How can you mice help us? However, we respect your request and will change our course.

After a few days, the elephants were caught in nets set by poachers and entangled in the nets. They struggled hard to escape, but failed. The Rat King remembered the promise that the Rat King had made. So, he called the only lucky fellow passenger not caught in the net. He told him to go to the Rat King and ask for their help. The elephant outside the net ran quickly and pleaded with the rat king.

Immediately all the mice came and started cutting their nets and thus they freed the elephants. And the elephant king thanked the mice a lot!

Lesson of the story:  A friend in danger is a true friend.

The story of the cobbler and the two dwarfs In a country there was a poor cobbler. Though poor, Muchi was very hardworking and honest. The poor man could not recover his fortune even though he tried hard enough. Day by day he was turning from poor to poor.   Wise Crow Noon of Chautra month. All around the wood cracked sun. A crow was very thirsty for water. The crow flew around and searched the water. No water was found anywhere. Meanwhile, his throat was parched with thirst. After much searching, the crow found a urn. He went to the pitcher. But he went to the pitcher and saw some water at the bottom of the pitcher. He raised his lips and tried to drink the water. But the water did not reach. But he was not disappointed. The crow thought what to do. The crow noticed that some pebbles were worn around the urn. Seeing them suddenly an idea came to his mind. Now the crow started throwing pebbles into the urn one by one. In this way, the pitcher was filled to the brim with stones. As a result, the water came up to the mouth of the pitcher. Joy in the eyes of the crow. Then the crow dipped its beak and drank the water to its heart's content and quenched its thirst.
